I only got to be at the fields for a little while on Saturday due to my sons U14 game in Harrogate. There were no problems reported to me before I left or after I got back.
The concession stand did a fair amount of business. Gail added some new items. Foot long hot dogs, cotton-candy, caramel apples, cupcakes. They seemed to do well. We made enough last week to pay the security officer. The shaved Ice folks showed up but only made us $15, ice does not sell on a cool day.
Our lost and found is growing, the shopping cart is overflowing. I have taken the 4 folding chairs from the lost and found and donated them to the referee area.
I plan to donate the items from the lost and found.
Speaking of referee's they did a great job this week. As far as I know all the games were covered.
With teams rescheduling game because of UT footballs 3:30 game there was not a lot of action going on.
I only heard a couple of things from parents
1. Where are the pictures? Greg Lawson has most of the pictures in. He will be at the fields next week.
2. Why are the fields so brown, when my yard is still green? Well we have Bermuda grass and it goes dormant this time of year. Why do we use Bermuda grass and not green (rye, fescue, etc.)grass? Because it holds up better.
The fields looked pretty good (even if they are brown), not a lot of trash left behind.
Next week we have a guest scout troop that will raise and lower the flag. They will also be selling popcorn as a fund-raiser. This is a inner city troop that needs some help.
Thanks for all you do for the kids.
See you on the fields.
