Week 6 of the Fall 2007 was a very eventful one.  The day started off cool but warmed up as the day passed. Even in cool weather, kids were asking for snow-cones. Hot chocolate and coffee were the main orders in the cool morning.

The referee situation was about the same, we are still short. A lot of games were covered, but a lot were not. Some of the referees have stated that they are going to cover their teams games first and others second. To me that is only fair. The teams with parent referees will have referees, those that do not....

We did have a drive-by on Saturday. Ray Stratton came by and did a drive-by visit. It was good to see Ray again.

We had two U12 players leave the fields with broken arms. In a morning game on field 10 a player fell and broke his arm. Lynn Waller and Kellie Gilliam were on the scene. Several parents and bystanders commented on the professionalism Lynn and Kellie demonstrated, keeping the child calm, and attending to his arm. The child was transported to the hospital by his parents. The second U12 player was on the field 1 in the afternoon.  Lynn and Kellie got the proper paper work filled out, Lynn left to check on the players. He has reported back to me that the first one has a very bad break in his wrist and arm bone. He may require surgery. The second one was a clean break, of both arm bones. Our wish is for a speedy recovery for both boys. I will provide updates as I get them. We did learn we need to upgrade our first aid kit. Kellie is checking on a new kit, or she may get things we need to bring ours up to par. A suggestion was made to get some two way radios. We will look into it.

Lifetouch was handing out the team photos that had been taken. There did not seem to be as many as in the past. The Action photographer was taking pictures. From the ones I saw, they have gotten some very good action shots.

There were a couple of games canceled, we even had a U19 team from Region 390 that did not show up for the 5:00 game. I will let the Interregional scheduler know.

I want to thank all the coaches, players and parents that picked up the U6 goals, and corner flags at the end of the day. Without these wonderful volunteers, it would take a lot longer to get everything put up.

Except for the broken bones, it was a very good day for Soccer. Great weather. Some one said they are calling for it to be in the 80s next Saturday. We will see, and I hope to see all of you at the fields next week.
