WET, COLD & WINDY, thats how week 6 started out. But the sun came out and it was still cold and windy. But we played some great soccer.

The shaved Ice folks stayed home, you don't sell much shaved ice when the air temperature is colder than the ice. The concession stand did a booming business on hot chocolate, and coffee. We made enough from last week to pay the security officer again this week. He told me he only had 70 cars park in the over flow lot. It seems some have discovered the secondary lot is closer. Plus we had some games played on Friday and some will be played this week due to players out of town and such.

No major problems were reported. We had a yellow card issued in the U12 division, and a couple in the U19. By the way our U19 team (which is mostly U16 players) is undefeated so far this season. If you got to watch any of their game on Saturday you could clearly see they are up to the challenge.

The fields were left in a very clean condition, we have some holes that need to be filled in (Field 2B, 4A, & a sprinkler head that needs to be raised on field 1).
Did anyone notice the new floor in the field house? Rich and his friend (Mike)put it down last Sunday. It should last longer than the building.

The VIP kids had their pictures on Friday, all smiles. If you get a chance stop by on Fridays and watch (or help) them. I have to put in a plug here. Last spring we had a girl in the VIP (autism). She moved in to the main stream program this season. Friday night she was helping her little brother (autism) in the VIP program. She has done really well in the main stream program. No she is not a Mia Hamm, but she is playing and having a great time. The only thing we have done different is to tell the center referee. With out the VIP program she may never have tried soccer. From what I saw Friday we may have another VIP kid the comes into the main stream. It really works in keeping with the AYSO principal "EVERYONE PLAYS".

Vernon posted some information on the indoor soccer league. Let him know if your interested.
I signed rosters for several teams to go to tournaments after the season. I wish them all the best of luck, they are already winners in my book.

We are down to the last 2 weeks, maybe the weather will hold.

See you on the fields again next week (for a little while, my U14 team plays in Harrogate next week).
