Week 5, the week that wasn't. Due to the weather, we had to cancel the games for April 8. Lynn Waller, Bill Mize and Chris Mott checked the fields at 7:00 am and determined that the fields were in no shape to play on. There was some discussion about checking the fields around noon and trying to get some games in. All the U8 and some U10 games would have had to be canceled because of fields 4B, 4C and 5B. Those fields do not drain at all. I felt is would cause too much confusion to allow some to play and some not to play. Some parents do not know what age group their kids play in. So I made the call to cancel all the games.
The VIP kids did get to play Friday, and had their pictures made. I have not been able to make it to the fields on Friday, but will keep trying. I enjoy watching the kids play and have fun.
There are no games next weekend (April 15) because of Easter. So the teams have 2 weeks to make up their games.
Some of us were lost and did not know what to do with no soccer. Some drove around looking for something to do, some went to the orange and white game while others went back to bed and rested, I worked on getting my desk at home cleaned up. I had forgotten what color the top was.
So the fields should be ready to go when we have games again on April 22.
The fund-raiser for Children's Hospital was rescheduled for the April 22.
See you on the fields on the 22nd.
