Well folks, week 4 is over and it was a great day for soccer. This Saturday reminded
me of a song (with a twist). "Oh where, Oh where have the referee's gone,
Oh where Oh Where can they be"..... Thats right there were a lot of games
that did not have referee's signed up. We got lucky in some cases where folks
stepped up to do games, coaches, parents, and older players did the games, some
trained some not. I had a game at Pellissippi field so I was gone from 11 - 2.
When I got back it looked like a lot of referee's had come out to do games.
The weather was great, cool in the morning and warm all day.
The parking officer reported he got 84 cars in the over flow lot. He said he could
have got more if a couple of trees and the pile of rocks were moved. I told him
we would work on it. Just to let everyone know if some one does something dumb
like parking in a handicap spot when they are not entitled to it, let him know.
He will be glad to talk to them, issue a ticket, or tow them. He is still a Law
enforcement officer even if he is off duty.
The U6 pictures were in and Theresa Gray was there handing them out. She could
use some help if your free for a little while on Saturday. Greg Lawson was there
taking pictures. Special thanks to Malcolm and Karen Tobias for the use of a goal
for a back drop for the pictures.
There was a problem in a game Saturday. The proper persons have been notified
and it is being looked to. Everything else was pretty quiet.
There did not seem to be any trash left on the fields, I did not see any cans
over flowing.
I got to watch some of my grandsons U6 game. One of the parents on the other team
seemed a little loud. But after listening to him for a while, I realized he is
just one of these folks that has the kind of voice that carries. He was just as
loud talking to folks on the sideline as he was when his child was playing.
Someone reported there were 5 ticks found on different folks. If this keeps up
we may have to spray or do something.
All in all a very good weekend for soccer.
See you next week on the fields.
