It was a typical English soccer day, overcast, wet and cool, and we finally got to play all day Saturday. There was on make up game that got rained out, but I think all the others played. The fields looked great, the kids had fun, some parents acted up, and parking was a mess.

Russ Wise was passing out the new Coach t-shirts, Mike Moody was selling jerseys, the Vipers held a bake sale, and the concession stand was going full blast. We did have a couple of teams that did not show, and forgot to call the team they were playing.

We had a parent and a coach have a heated discussion over some player shorts. We also had some parents concerned about how short players shorts should be. But for the most part things went well.

Most of the games were covered with referees. We had a referee come back into the region. John Rader played soccer in Region 337, became a referee, and went off to see the world. John has come back and did a couple of U14 game. David Holt the Area 5B Referee Administrator was at the fields helping out. I wan to thank all the referees that came out and did games.

A lot of the games were close one, with only 1 goal difference. There were some that pushed the edge 6 – 0, 7 – 1. However, for a lot of the teams this was their first game. Teams get better as the season goes on.

The only thing that really bothered me was the amount of trash left on the fields. We need everyone to pick up their trash. Some trashcans were full and we will have more out next week.

Thanks for everything you do as a volunteer, as a coach, referee, or board member. Without everyone’s help, the program would fail. We are 25 years old this year, I would like to see Region 337 turn 50 some day.

Hope to see everyone on the fields next Saturday.
