Well week 2 has come and gone and looks like we made it. With a chance of rain
(sorry I try not to use 4 letter words) the kids played on. It did not rain or
get as warm as predicted, but it was ok, but windy.
The Second Harvest can drive did well, not sure how many cans were collected.
Crystal and Co. kept tabs on the cans that were turned in. The VIP kids had 50
(the most).
The Soccerfest team was geared up and on the go. Ty and Mary said they had 8 teams
sign up and pay. Great Job ladies.
We had a fill in officer Saturday, and he did pretty good. He told me he got 85
cars in the overflow lot. He will be back again next week. I told him if he saw
anybody doing something stupid (like driving too fast in the parking lot) he was
free to have a heart to heart with them. We have kids that walk right down the
middle of the parking lot and never once look up. Since some folks can not see
the one way signs or arrows they will never see a child. He told me he did run
off a couple of teen agers. They were in the parking lot on the hill, looking
in all the cars. He asked them if they had brothers or sister playing, or if they
played, they said no, so he made them leave and told them he would be watching
for them.
If you got a chance to look in the storage building, you saw that once again it
has been cleaned and put in order. Thanks to Mike Moody. Rich Guy and I got some
shelving last week and stored it under the building. We will try to get it put
up before April 2. Mike told me he emptied the lost and found last week, it was
full again this week.
It looks like we had some out of towners, or something else between the U10 fields.
There was a lot of trash left between 2A and 2B. Hope they go back home, I know
none of our folks would leave a mess like that on our fields.
We did have a little mix up on the game schedule and referee schedule. They did
not match. some games were not listed, some at the wrong time, but we survived.
It will be fixed by April 2. All the games I saw were covered. We had a parent
step up and AR 4 or 5 games. He has not been trained as a referee, but we can
fix that. I plan to send Russ his name. Oh by the way it was David Lister. He
AR'd games all day, a couple of referee's were glad he was there. Thanks to all
the folks that came out and did games.
Greg Lawson was at the fields taking the U6 pictures. There was a list of teams
and times posted.
The second edition of the news letter came out. At one point I was told they were
all gone, but I found some. Be sure and get your copy.
The concession stand did well, sold a lot of hot coco and coffee. The shaved Ice
folks were there, I don't think they did to well. I wonder why?
The VIP kids played on Friday night, and from all accounts they had a blast. Suzanne
had left me a phone message about how it went. The girls from Rick Normans U19
team came out again and served as VIP buddies to help the kids.
Thanks to the parents that came out Friday and lined fields. If you didn't notice
they switched to blue till the grass starts to come in. White paint on light brown
grass does not show, but blue shows.
I found out even I made the bad list. Yes folks the RC's team has not gotten all
our kid zone forms turned in. Remind you coaches to get them turned in. I do have
a little excuse, one of my U14 was a Ball Camp last week, and the other was at
Pellissippi this week. I promisied Crystal I would get them in by April 2. If
anyone wants to fire me and take over 2 U14 teams let me know.
There are no games next week, we get to rest up. But be ready to hit the ground
running on April 2.
Enjoy your weekend off.
