WOW !!

What a great Saturday we had. Week 2 of the 2004 fall season is in the books.
In case you did not know Region 337 was the only region that did not cancel
games. Region 275 did not start till noon, the rest canceled.

I had a LOT of comments from parents, telling me "great call". Because we did not cancel the games. John (The Field King) and I looked checked the fields Friday night. We decided that the fields would be playable Saturday morning, and they were. The wind, no more rain, and having the fields aerated did the trick. Parents also commented on how good the fields looked and they all (U10 and U6) love the new lay out. I haven't heard from the U8 teams yet.

The new corner flags are in and should be out next week.

The weather was perfect Saturday, we could not have asked for a better day,
except that all the teams could have won.

We had a couple more registrations (kids that tried football and found that
soccer is more fun) and sold some more jerseys. I turned over $135 to Brandi. I
have some more checks to give her. Super Asst. Registrar Mandy, got the information, went home, entered the information, printed the forms and came back to the fields. Thanks Mandy.

The size 3 balls that Russ and Sharon got came in, and were passed out to the
U8 coaches. Vicki will cover the U6 coaches next week. Thanks Russ and Sharon.

Lee Stewart the Area 5B Director came out to the fields. He passed out some Hyundai packs to some of the team moms. We came up short on a U8 game because the referee that signed up could not make it. Lee stepped in and did the game. It was good to see him on the fields again. For those that don't know. Lee was the RC before me, and the man who are fields are named after. I am not sure who the lucky teams were that got Lee as a referee. I would have loved to have him do one of my games again. He said he would be back.

Greg Lawson was on site taking all the U6 pictures. He will do all the U8 next week. I guess the U10, U12, and upper divisions will follow. Greg has the contract to take pictures for the Region.

We did have a problem with a U8 game, I asked the coach to talk to Tyina.

I am available 99% of the time. The only time I will not talk to a coach or parent is during my game. Thats the kids time, and I will not short them. There are enough other board members around that can handle a problem, or it can wait till after my game (esp. my sons game). I got part of the problem from Ty, and some more from some of the parents. I will talk with Russ and Sharon about it. Nothing major or serious.
Russ Woolard and Steve Drummer did a fantastic job getting all the games covered. By covered I mean a referee team (3 persons) on all U10, U12 and upper division games. The U8 games were covered with U8 referees and club referees. Thanks Russ and Steve. Thanks to all the referees that came out.

Nothing turned up in the lost and found, well 1 soccer ball. We did have the chair cover from last week claimed, and 1 ball returned to its owner.

Jo had the recycle boxes set up again. I did not get a chance to see how it is going. I did find a bag with 2 pair of cleats under my chair. I will turn them over to Jo.

Keep a check on our web page. Lots of good info there.

Thanks for all you do for the kids.

See you on the fields.
