Last month’s Board Meeting minutes were brought to the table for approval. There was one correction. Amy Waller’s resignation from CVPA is effective immediately as opposed to the end of her term. Other than this, last month’s minutes were approved by the Board.
The Board Dinner for Region 337 is scheduled for Saturday, December 1st from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Golden Coral on Clinton Highway. Please e-mail George to let him know how many from your family will be attending.
Section 5 Rules were e-mailed to all board members. Ray Straton came up with the new rules. Our board was highly opposed to the new rules. George asked that all comments regarding the new rules be e-mailed to him and he would pass them along.
New strategic planning outline was passed around for review to the board members. The new national president came up with the new guidelines. George will also e-mail these to the board members.
Treasurer report: no one present to give a report.
Ideas to increase referee participation were brought up:
David Lister suggested that if a referee did “x” amount of games per season then he/she would receive a scholarship voucher for the next season. George was not sure that this would be in compliance with National guidelines, but would check. Amy Waller suggested perhaps even just deducting our region’s fee and pay only the National fee.
There are an average of 35 games every Saturday that need to be covered.
We NEED incentives to get more referees for games.
Amy Waller recommended that referees were assigned for every game.
We need teams, parents and coaches to step up and take responsibility to provide more ref’s.
Also, the point system was brought up, where each ref would receive so many points for games done (more
Points awarded for upper divisions) and the points could be redeemed for “prizes” ie: AYSO store
Merchandise.
No decision was reached, but the board was encouraged to keep thinking of incentives for ref’s.
David Lister is taking over the job of Referee Administsrator.
Referee Training Dates. No dates have been set yet. We want to set a date ASAP to give everyone ample noticebetween coach’s meeting and the class. We need to talk to Russ Wise and then a date will be decided.
Chris Mott suggested a mass e-mail to every parent that has a child playing in our region to alert them that we need volunteers and/or referees and the dates of the ref classes. It was brought up that EAYSO had the ability to send a mass e-mail to every parent. Parents check a box on the registration form to if they want e-mails from the region. The board agreed that it was a good idea.
Coach training dates have not been set yet. We need to get with Russ Wise before we determine the date.
Mike Moody is still in the process of counting jerseys. He is bagging each individual jersey in a plastic bag with the size and number labeled on the outside of the bag. These will then be placed in a locker in the equipment shed. We will be purchasing an additional locker for the jerseys. The current lockers that we have are being utilized for coach’s, referee and CVPA items. Angela Lister gave Mike Moody the contact information for the company the jerseys are purchased from.
Angela Lister suggested that jerseys not be prepaid at registration (both walk in and mail). The region is losing a lot of money because of parents claiming to have paid for a jersey at registration. It was suggested that we update the website and send notice with mail in registrations to not prepay for the jerseys. Jerseys are available at both new player clinics and at the first two games of the season.
Chris Mott is applying rye grass and fertilizer to the fields. The sprinkler system is currently still on.
Results from the Morristown tournament are as follows:
U14 girls 6th place Snyder
U14 boys 1st and 2nd place Gilliam and Easterday

U12 boys 1st place and 4th place Ballenger and Wise

A list of proposed volunteers going to the Sectional Meeting in Atlanta was passed around. The majority of the board approved the list. A few of the board members were opposed and will be e-mailing George with their objections. The board will be paying the room and registration fees for all board members attending. Leisel Harrison is a member of the Sectional staff and they will pay half of her registration fee. Some of the classes at the Sectional meeting begin Friday morning, the rest start at 2:00 Friday afternoon.
The meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting/Board Dinner will be on December 1st at the Golden Coral on Clinton Highway starting at 6:00 p.m..
