The Regional Commissioner introduced Paula Owens; she will be the new Assistant Equipment Manager and will be working with Melissa Range.
Russ Wise has withdrawn his name as the coach of the U12 boy’s team that will go to the National games. Rich Guy will hold a meeting of all the U12 coaches and interested parties on December 1 at Faith United Methodist Church. Anyone interested is invited to attend. A team manager, and coaches will be selected. It is estimated that the cost will be $800 – $1500 per player. Players will have to pay their own way or hold fundraisers. The Region will not be covering any of the cost except the $400 registration fee.
We will be working on rebalancing some of the teams, as we get closer to the spring season.
Laura Walters reported that there are only 14 U10 players signed up for Indoor Soccer at the YMCA. The U12 have 27 players and will have 4 teams. The U14 has 14 players. Registration will continue till teams are full, or we run out of time slots. Coaches will check out the indoor balls from the front desk. All parents and players must sign in at the front desk. No report on the SML (Soccer Moms) was made.
There have been some complaints that the new SCORE jerseys are not holding up. We will check with SCORE. Along with complaints from some referees, this may be enough reason to look at a different jersey when it comes time to reorder.
We have had some volunteers step down from different positions. This is normal. If you’re interested in a different position on the board or know of someone who would make a good board member, let George know. Positions that are/will be open, Soccerfest director, U8 division coordinator, Public Relations director, and Indoor coordinator.
Sharon Wise reported we have $8136.72 in the bank, plus our emergency savings account ($6000). We have been catching up on some unpaid bills. Some were from last March. We are all caught up as of this board meeting.
Everyone needs to start working on his or her budgets for the 2006-2007 season. We need to turn in the regions budget to the area by June 1, 2006.
Russ Woolard has been asked to let George know if he wants to continue as the Referee Administrator for Region 337.
Terry Wilshire is putting a training schedule together for coaches for the spring. We will get it posted on the website once it is complete.
.
John Harbinson will work with Chris Mott in the spring. Chris will be taking
over as the Regional Fields Manager. New corner flags are being ordered to replace
the ones that were broken. The last ones we bought did not hold up. The ones
we are buying now are on sale for $55 a set (normally $110 a set). If anyone
needs anything for the spring we need to get it ordered so we will have it.
The Board Dinner will be December 4 at 6:00 pm. It is at the Bearden Banquet Hall on Kingston Pike. Please let George know if you plan to attend and how many will be with you. We are also working on the list of volunteers to go to the section meeting. There are some new courses being offered at the section meeting. Everyone should have a copy of the courses that are being offered. Let George know if you would like to attend.
Sandra Harbinson will work with Cat Seagle in the spring. Cat will be taking
over as the Regional Registrar.
Rich Guy will become the Director of Player development in the fall; Dan Hawkins
will be the Assistant.
David and Angela Lister will become the U12 division coordinators in the fall.
Rich will work with them this spring.
We had several teams that went to the Tournament in Morristown. Alan Ballenger’s
U14 girls won the U14 girls championship; Dan Hawkins U14 boys won the U14 boys
championship. We had 2 U12 girls finish as semi-finalist, Joe Snyder and George
Burgess; Jeff Sexton’s U12 girls also did well. We also had the 2, U12
boys that did well, coached by Kellie Gilliam, and Jim Favaro. In the U10 boys,
the region got the top 3 spots. Paul Wakefield and Graham Christy took 1st place,
Steve Gray got 2nd place and Russ Wise got 3rd place. Amy Waller and Jason DeRosa
U10 girls’ team did well also. We had a U19 boy’s team coached by
Mike Horner and a U10 team coached by Jack Dishner that went to the Ball Camp
Tournament the same weekend. The U19 finished as finalist, the U10 team had
fun.
We did have a coach that broke the rules. Preston Edmonds was told at the start
of the season that he was not to coach this season. He signed up a team (he
is not a registered volunteer), and submitted a roster with out the regions
approval. The Tournament Director at Morristown was told to disqualify him and
the team. They chose to let the team play, with a different coach. The U10 division
coordinators, Coach Administrator, CVPA and RC will discuss how to handle the
situation.
Amy Waller, Assistant Regional Commissioner announced that she has a new soccer player on the way. The baby is due around the end of June. So she will be coaching a U6 team in about 4 or 5 years.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted

Regional Secretary
