The May board meeting for AYSO Region 337 was held at Faith United Methodist Church
on May 12, 2005 at 7:30 pm. Board members present were: George Burgess, Pat Burgess,
Terry Wilshire, Amanda Wilshire, Theresa Gray, Mary Davis, Liesl Harrison, Tyina
Barnes, Vicki Easterday, Russ Wise, Jeff Wolfenbarger, Rich Guy, Teresa Guy, Sandra
Harbison, Amy Waller, Laura Walters, Jason DeRosa, Mike Moody, Melissa Range,
and Rick Roth.
John Harbison and Steve Gray are still looking for a building for storage. John
and Steve are authorized to spend (within reason) whatever is needed to get a
good secure building.
Ty Barnes reported there are still some open slots in the U8 and U10 divisions
for Soccerfest. The U6 Jamboree will be May 14 at the fields. Teams will be staggered
out so we don’t have too many at one time. The kids will go from station
to station with different activities at each one.
Rich Guy is very worried about our shortage of referees this season. We have had
several youth referees doing 3 – 4 games on Saturdays. The “Regulars”
adult referees are doing the same. We need to work on finding out what the problem
is on referees not signing up.
Sandra Harbison said no date has been set for the first walk-in registration for
the fall. We will have several walk-in registrations for the Fall.
Theresa Gray reported that the total in the bank account is around $6000.
Melissa Range reported that after Soccerfest, several board members would do an
inventory of the jerseys. If needed we will order more for the fall. Melissa is
looking in to changing to a lighter material and possibly going to 2 jerseys.
The teams that are going to Spartanburg for the Section 5 tournament can practice
at the Rifle Range fields. Schedule practices with John Harbison or Steve Gray.
Laura Walters said the new player clinics for the fall season will be held for
the U8 and above on August 21 before the first practice, The U6 will be the week
before their first game.
The Volunteer Appreciation Day is Sunday, May 15 from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm at
the soccer fields. All coaches, referees, board members and volunteers are invited.
We had a great turnout last year and hope to do the same this year.
The executive board has not had a meeting yet, but should be meeting soon.
With no further business to come before the board the meeting was adjourned with
the RC reminding everyone to come to Volunteer Day.
