The minutes from the February 2008 board meeting were approved.
George informed the board that we need someone to be the coordinator for the Challenger Soccer Camp. Due to an illness, Angela Lister will not be able to be the coordinator. Board members that are interested are to let George know.
It was proposed that we hire someone to line the fields each week. It was suggested that we let the team going to the National games do it to earn some money. It was suggested that we hire a non-volunteer, one, or two of the parents from the Vipers team. They will oversee the field lining, and donate the money to the team. The non-volunteers will be paid $1000 to line all the fields for the rest of the season. The members present voted and approved the proposal.
At the referee training class that was held on March 1, there were 38 referees trained. Most were U8 referees. We do not have the exact number of Regional Referees that were trained.
Russ Wise, RCA, will have the new regional coach shirts at the first games. Only the head coach of a team will get a shirt. The new shirts have the Regional Logo on the back. Skills training will be every Friday night at 6:00 pm, weather permitting.
The CVPA’s have all the head coaches and most of the assistant coaches, volunteer forms. There are still a few new assistant coaches that need to turn in forms. Team Parents also need to turn in volunteer forms. All the new referee forms have been turned in and entered into eAYSO.
Chris Mott reported that if we get the 1 – 2 inches of rain, that some of the fields would have to be closed. Due to the construction of the new park and fields, the creek has changed its course and field 7 stays wet. If it is just a light rain, we will play. If there are puddles on the fields, we will have to call the games. Chris also wants to order or get donated a load of sand/dirt to fill in some low spots. Coaches may schedule makeup games on Saturday March 23 (Easter weekend) if they want. Coaches and parents can call the Regional phone (687-9777) to see if games are cancelled. They can also check the website, www.AYSO337.com
Everyone was reminded to work on and submit his or her budget requests for the next budget year. Get the requests turned into Sharon Wise by May 1st. The new budget will be voted on at the May board meeting. The 2008-2009 budget starts June 1.
The VIP numbers are still low. Melanie and Leslie are working on get the VIP going.
George asked that the Division Coordinators only move players in their divisions. Several DC have complained that players are being moved off teams, and into other divisions with out the Division Coordinators knowledge or approval.
Leanne Hinkle reported that items for the Newsletter are due March 23. If anyone has anything for the newsletter get it to Leanne.
George let everyone know that his statement at the Coaches meeting had been taken wrong. He encourages all the teams that want to go to the Area or Section Games to go and play. We have 114 teams, if 14 go to the Area games, that leaves 100 teams with nothing to do that weekend. Teams that do not go can do make up games or schedule games with other Region 337 teams. All teams going have to meet the tournament requirements and have their forms and fees turned in. Teams must have their fees turned in to the Treasurer before a Region check can be written. The RC and Referee Admin must sign team roosters and approve referees.
Tournament forms are available at our website, the Area 5B website or the Section Web site.
With nothing further to come before the board the meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
Minutes were kept by Sue Unbehaun.
Respectfully submitted
George Burgess
