The June board meeting for AYSO Region 337 was held at Lee Stewart Fields on June
8 at 7:05 pm. Board members present were: George Burgess, Pat Burgess, Russ Wise,
Sharon Wise, Amy Waller, Lynn Waller, Dennis Earl, Catrina Clark, Mike Moody,
Cat Seagle, Chris Mott, Michele Rogers, Vicki Easterday, Kellie Gilliam, Tyina
Barnes, and Terry Wilshire and David Rogers.
Cat Seagle reported that the Fall registration will be July 29 at Central HS from
10 am till 2 pm. We need to stress to as many people as possible to register on
line and mail or bring their forms to registration.
Sharon Wise reported we have about $14,000 in the bank account with a few outstanding
bills (NAGM, etc). Soccerfest raised approximately $4700 in profit. Starting on
July 1, 2006 we will use a purchase order number. If you need to buy anything
you must have a purchase order. Call Sharon and she will give you a number to
use. This will help us track what is ours and who ordered what. We will be notifying
vendors who in the region have authorization to purchase and to ask for a P.O.
number. If you want to order something for yourself, personally, you need to pay
for it before you order. We will not be mixing personal orders with region orders.
Vicki Easterday wants to have the coach training for the U6 separate from the
other coach training. Sometimes, a U6 coach can get the wrong ideas from the older
training. It is also sometimes over whelming to the newer coaches to sort out
what they need and don’t need. Some of what they are hearing apply only
to the older age divisions.
George welcomed the new board members, David and Michele Rogers. They will be
taking over as the Under 8 division Coordinators. They will need everyone’s
help and support for the fall season. Other changes are, Mike Moody and Catrina
Clark will take over as Kid Zone Coordinators. Angela Lister will be the new Player
Equipment Manager. Liesl Harrison and Melissa Range are the Under 12 Coordinators.
Cat Seagle is now the official Regional Registrar.
Rich Guy and Dan Hawkins will be collecting the player evaluations and will provide
the division coordinators with a player rating. Division Coordinators can use
this rating to help balance teams.
Chris Mott plans to fertilize the fields in 2 weeks and will be filling in holes.
He will have the fields aerated in the fall. We will also start replacing the
old goals with some new lightweight goals. The plan is to do a set of goals per
season as money allows.
ALL volunteers need to fill out a new volunteer form for the upcoming year. Your
current form runs out on July 31, 2006. If you are involved in any way with the
kids, you need to fill out a volunteer form. This is for coaches, assistant coaches,
trainers, helpers, Team parent, referees, board members, and regional volunteers.
Rich does not have the Regional Guidelines ready to present to the board. He has
formed a committee and they will present the proposed regional guidelines for
the board to review at the July board meeting. After the board has reviewed the
proposed guidelines, a vote will be taken and the board will approve or disapprove
the guidelines. The board-approved guidelines will then go to the Regional commissioner
for his approval and signature. The Regional Guidelines will be sent to the Area
5B Director for his approval and signature. The Area Director will send the guidelines
on to the Section Director for his approval and signature. The Section Director
will send the Regional Guidelines will to the National Office for their approval
and filing.
George passed out information from the NAGM, including Organizational Goals, Annual
Reports, budgets and catalogs. George went over all the things that were voted
on at the NAGM and why they passed or failed. George reported that our current
National President was re-elected for a 1-year term.
Suzanne Oliver sent in her letter of resignation. She is stepping down as the
VIP Director. Her job with Knox County Schools has become more demanding of her
time. She stated in her letter that Leslie Goins is ready to take over as the
VIP Director. We also got a card of thanks from Chris Bayless. Chris is a former
board member and Referee who is fighting cancer. He hopes to come back when he
is better.
The car show for the Chicago team is this Saturday; encourage you friends to come
out a view the cars.
With nothing further to come before the board the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted
Pat Burgess
Regional Secretary
