Fall registration will be held July 29 at Central High School from 10:00 a.m.-2:00
p.m. Cat Seagle has sent ads to run in the local papers for 2 weeks before.
If you want to set up a table for your respective areas let Cat know as she
wants to have a general idea of how to route people thru. Please plan on attending,
and wear your blue region shirts. Also, if you will work at the registration
tables let Cat know ahead of time so she can get plenty of help.
Sharon Wise reported that there are still several unpaid bills still out, so
we didn’t have a final balance on our bank account for the past season.
She expects the bills to be in shortly. The Regional budget is almost finished
and will be presented at the next board meeting. The new purchase order system
is in effect and you MUST call Sharon and get a purchase order number. If you
order something with out a purchase order, you pay for it. An update list of
authorized purchasers will be sent to all our vendors.
Terry Wilshire has coaches training scheduled for August 5th. This is for new
coaches that have already signed up to coach. August 14th is set for a meeting
with all coaches. There will be more coaches training classes after the teams
are picked and he checks to see who needs what in the training. There will be
information at registration and on the web site. Check for dates and times.
No word yet on referee training dates.
Chris Mott has put fertilizer on fields. He will be filling in holes and putting topsoil down in the next week. The weekend of August 25, 26 and 27 Chris requests everyone that can come help those days, please do so. The goals have to be moved, fields measured, lined and ready for first games on September 9. We will need a flatbed truck for moving the goals.
We need an inventory of jerseys in building before we place an order. It was brought to the board’s attention that people have been seen getting Jerseys out of the building but Sharon has not seen any money coming in for them.
A representative for the Lady Vols soccer team has notified Amy Waller that
they need teams for half time at their home games. It’s possible we might
be able to get them to come to registration and hand out information on their
games and new stadium.
The Region received honorable mention on the 2004 performance review. We could
have gotten a higher score but not having budgets turned into National really
hurt us. If you haven’t turned in a budget to Amy or Sharon PLEASE do
so. We are working toward the Platinum Award.
George informed the board that as the RC he has to have the board approval to
coach a team a vote was taken and he is approved to coach in the fall.
Because we are now under the National Regional guidelines, the Regional Commissioner
can no longer appoint new board members. The Regional Commissioner can reappoint
or not appoint current board members at the end of their 1-year term. The Nominating
Commission is made up of 3 board members and 3 non board members and a chairperson.
The Nominating Commission consists of Laura Walters, Liesl Harrison, and Pat
Burgess. Chris Bayless, Kim Hatfield and David Lister are the non board members
on the Commission. Kerry Patterson will be the chairperson. The Nominating Commission
will server a 1-year term, after which they can be reappointed.
Another committee that has been formed is the Regional By-Laws committee. The
committee is made up of Sharon Wise, Tyina Barnes, Chris Mott and Mike Moody.
Rich Guy is the chairperson. A Regional Steering Committee is being considered
to make recommendations to the board. If formed it will consist of the 7 required
board positions, Regional Commissioner, Safety Director, Coach Administrator,
Referee Administrator, Treasurer, CVPA and Registrar. It will also include the
Assistants for those positions. Only the 7 required will be voting members,
assistants will vote in their absence. The Regional Secretary will keep the
Steering Committee minutes.
A board-member information sheet was passed around for people to check to make
sure information is correct.
Uniroyal tires would like to send information out again this year regarding
the deal they have where a certain percent of purchases of their tires goes
to the region. Information will be available in the coach’s packets they
receive at the meeting.
The new player clinics will be on August 26 at the fields. Laura requests anyone that can PLEASE help.
The Total Velocity team leaves for the National games in Chicago on Sunday July 9th. We all wish them lots of luck and safe traveling.
With nothing further to come before the board the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted
Pat Burgess
Regional Secretary
