Board members in attendance we; Brandi Crass, Mindy Myers, Steve Drummer,
Russ Wise, Sharon Wise, Steve Gray, Theresa Gray, John Harbison, Sandra Harbison,
Terry Wilshire, Mandy Wilshire, Jim Farvo, Jeff Wolfenbarger, Teresa Guy, Vernon
Corum, Jo Long, and Pat Burgess.
The first item was to tell Russ what a great job he is doing on the website.
New board members, Vernon Corum, Steve Gray, and Jo Long were introduced and
welcomed. Vernon will be the regions indoor soccer coordinator; Steve will take
over as Asst. Fields Manager, and Jo and her husband Ken will be starting up
the regions player equipment-recycling program.
The new reversible game jerseys will be arriving soon; Eric Jones will notify
parents as to when they can pick them up. Cost of the jerseys was $8000 for
750.
It looks like we will go over 100 teams again this season, 44 in the under 6
division,
24 Under 8 division, 22 in the Under 10 division, 13 in the Under 12, 6 in the
Under 14, and 1 Under 19 team. We may hit 900 players this season, we had 848
last fall. We are currently at 790 players registered with 139 still on the
pre-registered list.
All the coaches will be given a game ball. The home team coach is responsible
for providing the game ball.
The Region has signed a 3-year contract with Greg Lawson for photography services.
Greg will set up and take team and individual pictures. He will start taking
pictures by the second or third game.
John Harbison and Steve Gray will set a date to set up the fields for the fall
season. The fieldwork day will be a Saturday. Goals will be moved; fields laid
out, everything we need to do before the season starts. Help out if you can.
An email will be sent out about the date.
We have the OK from the County to pour a concrete pad for a concession stand.
Steve Drummer will draw up the plans for the pad. We have to submit the plans
before work can begin.
Everyone, coaches, referees board members, team parents, must fill out a volunteer
form each season. Turn the forms into Tyina Barnes CVPA.
From the recent issue of InPlay, Players are allowed to wear medic alert, bracelets,
hearing aids, glasses, and insulin packs when they play. Hard casts and splints
are not permitted during games or practice.
At the NAGM the region got a bronze award. The new assessment pack is out
and has been given to the Asst. RC for completion. The Regional Assessment is
a measure of how the region is doing in meeting the standards of AYSO. We were
short on a few things, so we know what we need to work on.
The Fall 2004 season starts on Sept. 11. The RC and the board would like to
do something in memory of the life’s that were lost when the World Trade
Center was attacked.
We will ask all the teams to observe a moment of silence before each game. The
referees will ask both teams to come to the center of the field for the moment
of silence. It was also suggested that the region erect a flagpole and raise
the American flag. Jim Farvo has volunteered to get the flagpole set in the
ground. We will raise the flag at the start of the games at 9:00 am.
The next stated board meeting will be September 9, 2004. The meeting will be
held at Lee Stewart fields at 7:30 pm.
