The January board meeting for Region 337 was held on January11, 2007 at Faith United Methodist Church.
Board members attending were: George Burgess, Pat Burgess, Amy Waller, Liesl Harrison, Vickie Easterday, Drew Burt, Becky Burt, Becky Kaman, Jason DeRosa, Dan Hawkins, Angela Lister, David Lister, Bill Mize, Mike Moody, Chris Mott, Rick Roth, Rich Guy, Laura Walters, Sharon Wise, Mary Davis, and Tyina Barnes.

George reminded everyone that registration is Saturday January 20th at Central High School from 10:00a.m. Until 2:00p.m. Please wear your blue region shirts and if you don’t have one let George know. He has extra. Be there early to help set up. Christenberry School would like to bring a team. If you committed to delivering fliers to local schools and haven’t picked them up please do so after the meeting.

Sharon Wise gave the treasurer’s report. Our balance is $23,070.43 and all known
Bills are paid. Sharon and Liesl Harrison will do an audit soon.

Chris Mott wants to get one set of full-size goals and one set for the U10 teams. We would like to replace two sets of goals per season until we are rid of the older, heaver ones. The fields have been aerated, grass sowed, and we have a new mower. The fields for the U8 and U10’s will be rotated from field 2 to field 5.

There are still some of the old jerseys in the building. They will be for sale at registration. Cost for the old jerseys will be $5.00 each. All U6 to U12 coaches will be given one for game days in case someone forgets to bring his or hers. Any that are left over will be given to the upward bound soccer program. It has been suggested that we get new jerseys next season because the referees have a very hard time during games telling the teams apart,

Region 124 would like for their U8 division teams to play some of 337’s. Some of the rules of the game are a little different for the two regions and caused some confusion during the games played last season. The U8 division Coordinators will meet with U8 coaches and go over all of that. They will need to let the coaches know if there is any difference in the rules of the game.
It was brought before the board about the abuse the youth referees for games were verbally abused by parents and coaches. We need to get the point across to everyone that there is ZERO TOLERENCE FOR any type of verbal abuse towards the refs especially our youth refs. It is the responsibility of the division coordinators to get the point across to ALL COACHES. If all the board members that were present on game days would walk around and listen for anything negative being said. If you feel comfortable talking to guilty parties do so or get another board member to help. Rick Roth very graciously volunteered to make a sign to be posted in plain sight of the Zero Tolerance policy.

The Challenger Camp will be July 30-Aug 3. There will be someone from Challenger at registration to promote camp and sign kids up. No date set yet for AYSO camp.

Kim Hatfield will help Liesl Harrison with the U12 division and David Lister will help Rich Guy with U14 and U16’s. Becky Hawkins and Dat Tran will replace Kim and David on the nominating committee.
The new player clinics are scheduled for U8 and up on Feb. 17 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
U6 clinic March 3 same times. Laura Walters would really appreciate some help for those days.
Referee training for basic refs will be Feb. 3 and Intermediate training on the 10th 0f Feb. at the church. There might be a refresher course for existing refs.
Soccerfest is scheduled for May 19 & 20. U8 and above can participate. Rules will be National Rules. The Section games will be held June 16 – 18.
The division coordinators need to let George know before he does the game schedules if some teams in their division need to play certain teams.

Tyina Barnes will be stepping down as CVPA after this season is over. Anyone that is interested please let George know and he will help you with the needed training.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:50.
