We have 40 folks attending the Section Conference in Atlanta on January 25 to 27th. Try to be there by 6:00 pm for the Awards dinner. We have had a few folks drop out and are working to fill the vacancies.
We currently do not have anyone to head up Soccerfest. Amy Waller and Kellie Gilliam have volunteered to head up Soccerfest. These years will include the U8 to U14 teams. Soccerfest will be May 30, 31 and June 1. This is the week after the NAGM
Sharon Wise gave the treasurer’s report. Our balance is $35,000 and all known bills are paid.
On the Referee side, John Rader is coming back to AYSO. Referee training date is March 1st. All the coaches will be told at the coaches meeting.
On the Coach side, the coaches meeting will be February 12th at 6:30 pm at Faith United Methodist Church. No dates have been set for coach training.
Some of the Division Coordinators are getting word that some coaches are not returning for the fall. New coaches will be found and trained. Some players may be reassigned to new teams.
The New Player Clinic will be held Feb. 16th for the U8 and above from 9 am till 11 am and March 1st from 9 am till 10:30 am for the U6. We need helpers on both dates to come out and work with the kids. The clinic will be held at Lee Stewart fields.
George reminded everyone that registration is Saturday January 12th at Central High School from 10:00a.m. Until 1:00p.m. Please wear your blue region shirts. Player jerseys will be sold at registration. Cost is $20 each. We will use tickets as proof of payment for jerseys. The jerseys will be counted before and after registration to make sure the number sold match the number of tickets. If we run out of a size of jersey the parent’s name and jersey size will be taken down. The parent will be told to hold on to the ticket. No ticket, no jersey. Jerseys will be available at the player clinics and the first games. Coffee, doughnuts, snacks and drinks will be provided for the workers.
Chris Mott reported that the field set up date will also be March 1st. It should be easier this time; Chris has kept the corners marked over the winter. Bottled water and snacks will be provided.
The Regional Commissioner reported that a Yahoo news group has been set up and all board members are invited to join, post ideas and comments. The RC will continue to send out his weekly reports during the season. We have had a problem in the past with folks using reply all on emails. The weekly reports also go out to Area and Section folks, comments do not need to go to all of AYSO. Use the news group for that.
Regional elections will be held at the May 2008 board meeting. All the required board positions (Regional Commissioner, Treasurer, Registrar, Coach Administrator, Referee Administrator, Safety Director, and CVPA) are up for election or re-election.
Kerry Patterson is head of the Nominating Committee. Please send any nominations to her. She will meet with the Nominating committee members, review the nominees and submit a list of nominations before the May board meeting.
The Middle School soccer teams (Gresham and Halls) that use our fields will pay for cleaning of the port-a-potties during their season. The Middle Schools play on Mondays and Thursdays, the port-a-potties need to be cleaned before the AYSO games on Saturdays. The Middle School teams will also keep the fields they use lined during their season.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm.
Minutes kept by Susan Unbehaun.
Respectfully submitted
George Burgess
Regional Commissioner
