The February board meeting was held at Faith United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 16 at twelve noon.

Board members attending: George Burgess, Pat Burgess, Mike Moody, Chris Bayless, Joe Snyder, Laura Walters, Kelly Gilliam, David Lister, David Hewitt, Bill Mize, Rick Roth, Karen Beatty, Kerry Patterson, Vickie Easterday, Liesl Harrison, Melanie Norman and Steve Moore.

The minutes from the January 2008 board meeting were approved.

The members present approved the new region logo and chose the back of the new referee coin, which will have 25 years in commemoration of 2008 being our 25th year. The flip side will have the word TAILS (this is to cut down on confusion during coin-toss at the start of a game.

There are three new board members: David Hewitt, Tom Tison and Patrick Shipley.

There is currently $81,000 in our bank account, however we have bills to be paid, such as the expenses from the Atlanta section meeting and the player fees to National.

Referee training will be held March 1 at Halls High School. If enough are interested an Intermediate referee training will be held.

The Skills training will start on Feb 29 at Rifle Range fields from 5:30-6:30.

The U5,U6 division is full but needs two coaches.

U10 needs more players. 20 teams (14 coed and 4 girls).

U14 has 5 girls’ teams and 5 boys’ teams and could use 4 or 5 more players.

The jerseys that were ordered will be here Feb. 29th. Mike Moody will have these for sale at the games.Field setup day is March 1.

There is also a new-player clinic that day and referee training at HHS.

Fields will be lined and goals set in place. Everyone is urged to HELP out.

Soccerfest will be May 30, 31 and June 1. There will be a $10. Per player fee instead of a team fee.

National is going up on the fee per player that we pay (we pay $11.75 now). They might go as high as $15. The RC’s will be voting on that and other issues at the NAGM meeting in May. George will be e-mailing all the matters to be voted on, to all board members so the board can tell him how we as a board want him to vote.

George passed out some information he got at the Area 5B meeting.

Melanie Norman is the new VIP coordinator. Her daughters have been helping with the program for 4 years and will continue to do so.
