The August board meeting for AYSO Region 337 was held at Lee Stewart Fields on
August 11 at 7:30 pm. Board members present were: George Burgess, Pat Burgess,
Terry Wilshire, David Poling, David Lister, Angela Lister, Liesl Harrison, Victor
Gosnell, Russ Wise, Sharon Wise, Jeff Wolfenbarger, Rich Guy, Mary Davis, Tyina
Barnes, Amy Waller, Laura Walters, Jim Favaro, Melissa Range, Dan Hawkins, Joe
Snyder, Rick Roth, Sandra Harbison, John Harbison, Dennis Earl, Catrina Clark,
April Parker and Rick Parker.
Sandra Harbison reported that the two walk in registrations went great. We had
758 kids signed up as of today. Sandra requested that in the future that folks
needing scholarships register early.
Amy Waller reported she had 36 medical waivers signed for the Soccer mom league.
There should be a lot more Soccer Moms sign up once the word gets out. We are
hoping to make this a permanent league. Maybe get uniforms and form teams.
Sharon Wise our new Treasurer gave a regional financial report. We currently have
a balance of $39,922.50 in the bank. Theresa Gray had to step down because of
personal reasons. Liesl Harrison will be doing an audit in the near future. Audits
will be done several times a year.
Tyina Barnes reported we have 86 registered volunteers in eAYSO. Ty plans to be
at 100% before the season starts. This includes all coaches, referees, assistant
coaches, team parents, and board members. The Board is at 100 % registered. The
board voted to accept the volunteer forms that Tyina had received. Volunteers
that have not filled out Volunteer forms were dropped as volunteers.
Rick Roth reported that coaches need to talk to their team’s parents about
taking the referee course. All teams are required to have at least 1 parent who
is a trained referee for their team. Training will be the last weekend of August
(27th). Check the website for times and locations. We really need parents to step
up and become referees. Without parent referees, games will not be covered.
Terry Wilshire reported there are 55 people signed up to coach, 27 of them need
training. Times for classes are posted on the web site. Safe Haven classes are
being held for all coaches that have not taken the course. Preston Edmonds has
been told not to coach this season. We will review this decision if the spring
season, if there are no problems this Fall. All coaches will be given a first
aid kit.
John Harbison reported that we have sod down on the fields. There will be a field
work day when fields will be set up, goals moved and lines painted. Check the
website for dates and times.
The new storage building is up and painted (Amy Waller and Crew). The building
is White with Blue trim. The words AYSO Region 337 will be painted on the side.
Melissa Range reported we have 500 jerseys on order and should be here in about
a week. This is the first order, and more can be ordered as needed.
A request was made that next season we look at having all the coaches meetings
on the same date. After a brief discussion, the division coordinators can break
off into their age groups for their team assignments. The matter will be looked
into before spring.
Amy Waller reported that the Regional Assessment has to be turned in no later
than September 8. She will see that it gets to the Area Director before the due
date. Anything we are lacking on will be placed on a goals sheet and be worked
on for the next assessment.
April Parker will be starting the newsletter one week before the season starts.
If you have something you want put in, get it to April as soon as you can. The
Halls Shopper News is going to give us some of their old paper boxes to use. There
will also be copies of the Halls Shopper in the boxes.
Signs will be made up and posted that on Saturdays during games, there are no
scooters, roller-skates, skateboards or bicycles allowed on the walkways or under
the pavilion. We have too many kids and parents that can get hit by one of them.
With nothing further to come before the board the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted
Pat Burgess
Regional Secretary
